Marvin Lloyd White: Was a member of the class of
1933. He went to Junior College in Dodge City Kansas after he
graduated from High School and finished his college work at the
University of Wyoming. He was employed by an Oil company when he
entered the service November 3, 1941. He was a member of the Air
Corps and had risen to the rank of Captain when he was killed in the
wreck of his plane on Tinian, Mariana Islands, March 30, 1945. He
was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. White and his two brothers, Harry and
Dale and his sister, Wilma, are all Graduates of our high school.

The Captain Marvin Lloyd White award is
presented
annually to the outstanding graduating senior.
This memorial trophy was originated by the
late
Bill McDermed in memory of his friend, Captain Lloyd White, who
graduated from Meriden
Rural High School
in 1933. Captain White was a casualty of World War II.
After Bill's
death, the trophy was provided, for many years, by his brother, Chet
McDermed,
and in recent years has been made possible by Daryl Becker.
The student receiving this award is based
on the
following criteria.
1. Be active in extra-curricular
activities.
2. Earn a C average or
better.
3. Be elected by the high
school faculty.
