 Another Alumni Banquet has come and gone.  We welcomed the 2008 graduating class, recognized the classes of 2003, 1998, 1993, 1988, 1983, 1978, 1973, 1968, 1963, 1958, 1953, 1948, 1943, 1938, 1933, honored our Veterans and remembered our classmates lost since our last gathering.

 Quite a few pictures were taken and we invite all of those who took pictures to share them with all who attended and those who were not able to.  If you want to share pictures or donate items to the Alumni Association please email them to Gary Bowen at garybo@embarqmail.com.  Items donated to the Alumni Association will be stored in a safe at the Denison State Bank, Meriden, KS.

 This year though smaller than in past years was without the tension and stress that had been present last year.  Laughter, conversation, and camaraderie were very much present this year.  From the smiles on everyone’s faces and the sound level of the evening, a good time was had by all who were there. 

 We are now looking forward to the Alumni banquet to be held on May 23, 2009.  This is the 100^th Annual Meriden Rural Jefferson West Alumni Banquet.  I cannot believe that we are approaching the 100^th anniversary of the Meriden Rural Jefferson West Alumni.  It just does not seem possible that the Alumni Association has been around that long.  This is a major milestone and should be celebrated as such.  The Alumni Board would like every Alumnus to come and help celebrate this milestone.

A committee has been formed to come up with a way to celebrate this time.  The Alumni Board will be working with this committee and are looking for volunteers to assist.  This is every Alumnus’s time to celebrate and honor all the history of the schools and of the community.

Next year we will be recognizing the following classes:  2004, 1999, 1994, 1989, 1984, 1979, 1974, 1969, 1964, 1959, 1954, 1949, 1944, 1939, 1934, 1929 and welcoming the class of 2009.

 We hope to see you all at next years Alumni Banquet.
